Morton's Restaurant Group, Inc. (NYSE: MRT) today announced that it has signed a lease to open a new Morton's The Steakhouse in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The 8,600 square-foot restaurant will be located in the ground level of the Broward Financial Center, 500 East Broward Blvd., a prime location in Fort Lauderdale's central business district. With a total indoor seating capacity of approximately 250, the restaurant will seat 130 guests in the main dining room, 65 in Morton's exclusive private boardrooms and 55 in Bar 12-21, Morton's new bar dining concept, the place for specialty cocktails and Morton's appetizing Bar Bites menu. The restaurant will also feature an outdoor patio with seating for approximately 55 guests. The new Morton's is expected to open in late 2008. It will be the first Morton's The Steakhouse in Fort Lauderdale and the seventh in Florida. Other Morton's steakhouses in Florida are currently located in Boca Raton, Jacksonville, Miami, North Miami Beach, Orlando and Palm Beach.
"We believe the Broward Financial Center can be a strong central location for Morton's in the fast-growing Fort Lauderdale and Broward County market," said Thomas J. Baldwin, chairman, chief executive officer and president of Morton's Restaurant Group, Inc. "Our plan to introduce Morton's brand of world-class dining and service in Fort Lauderdale, a prime destination for business and tourism, is consistent with our overall growth strategy."
The Broward Financial Center is a 24-story office building at the intersection of Federal Highway (U.S. 1) and East Broward Blvd., two major arteries that provide convenient access. Many upscale hotels are in or near Fort Lauderdale's central business district.
