Morton's Restaurant Group, Inc. (NYSE: MRT) today announced that it has signed a lease to open a new Morton's The Steakhouse in Indian Wells, CA. The 8,000 square-foot restaurant will be located in the new Indian Wells Town Center development at the intersection of Miles Avenue and Washington Street in Indian Wells, CA. With a total indoor seating capacity of approximately 230, the restaurant will seat 120 guests in the main dining room, 80 in Morton's exclusive private boardrooms and 30 in Bar 12-21, Morton's new bar dining concept, the place for specialty cocktails and Morton's appetizing Bar Bites menu. The restaurant will also feature an outdoor patio that will seat an additional 20 guests. Morton's expects to open the restaurant in 2010. It will be the 12th Morton's The Steakhouse in California and the second in the Palm Desert metropolitan market. A Morton's is already located in Palm Desert at 74-880 Country Club Drive, across from the Marriott Desert Springs.
"We believe Indian Wells is an ideal area for Morton's that will accelerate our growth in the affluent Indian Wells, Palm Desert and Palm Springs region of southern California," said Thomas J. Baldwin, chairman, chief executive officer and president of Morton's Restaurant Group, Inc. "Morton's looks forward to bringing our legendary brand of fine dining to Indian Wells."
Indian Wells is a popular destination for the more than 3 million tourists that visit the beautiful Coachella Valley each year. The new Morton's will be close to high-end retail stores and boutiques, and the world-class Remington Las Montanas Resort Hotel and Spa, which is expected to open in 2010.
